New work up from Lisa Hyde Roach and Edwin Hyde, on William Hyde 1775 – 1843 here

This William Hyde is likely a descendant of William Hyde, (d 1748) of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The latter is the subject of a large upcoming paper. Lisa’s remarkable work uncovered the connection that broke down Ed Hyde’s brick wall and zoomed past it by several generations, to the person likely to have been the immigrant ancestor. It’s one of the largest lineages in the US, and includes several lines we’ve talked about before, like Benjamin Hyde and Elizabeth Leatherwood. This work will also explain in more detail how closely related Puritan brothers Samuel and Jonathan Hide are to Humphrey Hides – so close that the vast majority of DNA tests can’t tell them apart.
Other works in progress include parsing the medieval line of the Vicar of Donyatt, Somersetshire. The next query answered will be about Thomas Hyde of Annapolis, Maryland. And Steve Hyde and I are working on Joseph and Josephus Hyde of MA, CT and NY, additions to the line of Jonathan Hyde (1626-1711) and Mary French (1632 – 1672). Tom “Doc” Hyde’s work will be featured in the next big project.

Thanks for the shout-out Ann – the work on Ed’s line was a group effort and would not have happened without finds by you and Ed. I also want to mention that this line includes the elusive Squire Hyde of Louisiana and Arkansas who has been sought by others. It was the search for Squire that jumpstarted this effort which built on years of work by Ed and Dr. Tom. Happy hunting!
